Hakka bacon

客家鹹豬肉

INGREDIENTS

Meat department

  • Pork belly, skin on - 2 lbs, sliced to 1" wide strips

Spice rack & Baking aisle

  • Garlic powder - 1 Tbsp

  • Black pepper, ground - 1-1/2 tsp

  • Five spice powder - 1/2 tsp

  • Szechuan pepper, ground - 1/2 tsp

  • Salt - 1-1/2 Tbsp


DIRECTIONS

  1. Mix all the spices to create a dry rub for the pork. Marinade the slices for 3 days in the refrigerator. Freeze the strips if not consumed after 3 days.

  2. Preheat the oven to 400F. Bake for 30-45 minutes until the outside looks crispy. Cut to 1/2"-1" cubes when serving.
