INGREDIENTS for 1/2 cup
Produce department
Garlic, minced - 1 tbsp (or 6-8 cloves, crushed)
Spice rack & Baking aisle
Sugar - 1 tsp (rock sugar is better but white sugar is just fine)
Five spice powder - 1/2 tsp
International aisle
Soy sauce - 2 tbsp
Taiwanese Bullhead BBQ sauce - 2 tbsp
Shichimi togarashi (Japanese 7-spice mix) - 1/2 tbsp
Substitute: Chili pepper powder - 1/4 to 1/2 tsp
Specialty items
(Optional) Dong Chun chili sauce - 1 tbsp
DIRECTIONS
In a sauce pan, combine all the ingredients and add water (2 tbsp). Use low heat to bring the sauce to boil for 2-3 minutes.
